Yadadri-Bhongir: Ascertaining the reasons for the defeat of their leader Boora Narsaiah Goud from Bhongir Lok Sabha seat, district TRS party leaders opined that most of the voters could have got confused their party symbol, car, with that of a road roller symbol of an independent candidate and could have voted for the road roller instead of car.

In the neck-and-neck fight between Congress candidate Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and TRS candidate Boora Narsaiah Goud, Komatireddy won the seat with a margin of 4,880 votes. As many as 13 members contested the Bhongir Parliament seat. While Boora Narsaiah Goud got serial number 3 from the top in EVMs, independent candidate Pingapaka Lingam was placed at serial number 11, third from the bottom. Much to everyone's surprise, over 27,942 votes were polled in favour of Lingam leading to several doubts. The TRS leaders after assessing the causes for the party candidate's debacle, opined that villagers could have got confused between the symbols and voted for independent candidate Lingam instead of Boora. Meanwhile, Lingam with 27,942 votes was placed at fifth position in the series of votes polled.
