Gowda calls for concerted effort in warangal
The TRS show in recent Assembly polls cannot be taken into count, Union Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation DV Sadananda Gowda said, stating that issues that take centre stage differ in Assembly and General Elections.
Warangal: The TRS show in recent Assembly polls cannot be taken into count, Union Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation DV Sadananda Gowda said, stating that issues that take centre stage differ in Assembly and General Elections.
Addressing a well-attended gathering here on Tuesday, he tried to infuse confidence among the leaders and cadres not to lose their morale after TRS' big win in elections to Assembly in December.
"Country needs a stable government that takes care of issues such as national security and overall development with impetus on poor and downtrodden. Narendra Modi-led BJP alone is capable of doing so. The Congress, which ruled the nation for about 55 years, failed to eradicate poverty," Gowda said.
He said that India became the fastest growing economy in the world under BJP government and moved up in GDP to 7.2 per cent.
The UPA government failed to achieve any substantial success during its decade-long rule.
"India is ranked 79 in ease of doing business whereas it was 142 before Modi took over the reins of the country," he said.
Referring to Pulwama terror, he said that country needs a leader like Modi to deal terrorism with iron hands.
"The Modi government did what USA failed to do so. It took 11 years for USA to eliminate al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, who masterminded 9/11 attacks in US. But the BJP government decimated terror groups sheltered on Pakistan soil," Gowda said.
Referring to a survey, he said that 86 per cent of people in the country want Modi back as the Prime Minister.
He appealed to the party cadre to work in tandem and campaign vigorously about the welfare programmes implemented by the Centre during the past five years.
BJP's Warangal Lok Sabha candidate Chintha Samba Murthy said that many of the welfare schemes being implemented in Telangana are partially funded by the Centre.
While TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao succeeded in propagating them as his own, the BJP leaders failed to enlighten the people about the Centre's share in those programmes, he said.
Warangal Urban district president Rao Padma Reddy, Rural district president Edla Ashok Reddy, BJP State general secretary G Premender Reddy, former Mayor T Rajeshwar Rao, senior leaders Chandupatla Keerthi Reddy and P Vijaychander Reddy were among others present.
