Hyderabad: With an aim to help the poor, The Global Edge School' (TGES) has once again taken up the noble cause in association with 'Helping Hearts' Foundation and Kapil Group and is organising 'Sahayathon' on Sunday at TGES, Vasanth Nagar, Kukatpally.

This edition of Sahayathon will have a Marathon Run and Cycling. Talking to The Hans India, Chairman TGES, M Jaipal Reddy and Principal Roshini Ramachandran said, "Around 1,200 participants including students will attend in the event."

They said in Marathon Run, there are two segments 3K Run for juniors and 5K Run for elders. In Cycling for juniors it is 5km and for seniors 10 km.

The main objective of this initiative is to help people, who are struggling to meet their medical expenses. When the word spread, parents of the students offered to help organise the event.

A few companies also vowed to help this noble cause, Reddy said. A team of doctors have volunteered to be on the panel, to guide in the identification and funding of beneficiaries.

Under the panel's guidance, the focus this year is on physiotherapy, an area not covered in existing medical schemes, he added. The proceeds from this event will be donated for the rehabilitation of economically needy who have lost their livelihood for want of physiotherapy treatment.

Last year Helping Hearts rehabilitated four persons. The objective of the foundation is to reach out to more patients in future, Jaipal Reddy said.
