Hyderabad: Pointing out that the State government has failed to take action on Vigilance and Enforcement Report on the misuse of government lands and allotment of plots by the office bearers of Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society, Forum for Good Governance (FGG) on Friday demanded that Governor E S L Narasimhan take action on the report given by the V&E.

Forum for Good Governance Secretary M Padmanabha Reddy said that government allotted 674 acres of land to AP Secretariat Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society, which had eleven service associations representing each category of employees.

The V&E noticed irregularities such as allotment of plots was done against the rules and by-laws of the society, persons already having houses in some other societies were allotted plots, the work of development of area was given to ex-office bearers, management paid huge money to contractors without checking quality of work leading to large scale misappropriation of funds etc.

The V&E had recommended cancelation of allotment made against the by-laws, resume all vacant lands, freeze accounts of society and ensure that no further expenditure is booked out of the money collected from members, allotment of plots with excess area should be charged at market value, take action against president, secretary and other office bearers for lapses and irregularities.

Padmanabha Reddy said it has been nine years since the report of V&E came out but there was no action taken by the government. "Government land in prime location was allotted to employees but due to irregularities committed by president management committee and it did not achieve the desired result," said Padmanabha Reddy.

He also said that when it was inquired about action taken on the report, the commissioner for cooperation stated that the report was placed before general body of the society on June 9, 2016 and the body rejected the charges of V&E.

It is now clear how serious irregularities brought out by vigilance can be rejected by general body of the society, said Padmanabha Reddy. He urged Governor Narasimhan to order immediate action on the report of V&E.
