Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, one of the distinguished guests at the inaugural ceremony of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), offered prayers at the Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy temple located on the banks of Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswathi (Antarvahini) confluence (triveni sangamam) on Friday.

Bhupalpally: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, one of the distinguished guests at the inaugural ceremony of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), offered prayers at the Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy temple located on the banks of Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswathi (Antarvahini) confluence (triveni sangamam) on Friday. He was accorded with full temple honours by the priests and temple management. He was accompanied by Forest and Environment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy and Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud.

Speaking to the media, Fadnavis lauded the efforts of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for completing the KLIP in record time, termed the project as a gift to the people of Telangana from Maharashtra. "Visiting the temple situated on the banks of Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswati confluence gave me a lot of satisfaction and happiness," Fadnavis said, stating that a large number of people from Maharashtra visit Kaleshwaram every day.

He said even Maharashtra will benefit from the project utilising the backwaters stretching as far as 60 km. "It is difficult to lift waters from Godavari during its course through Maharashtra. We have nothing to lose with the construction of KLIP by the Telangana government," he said. Earlier, Fadnavis participated in the inauguration of Medigadda barrage and Kannepalli pump house.
