Education Minister inaugurates Student Counsellors' training programme
Education Minister P. Sabitha Indira Reddy inaugurated two-day Students Counsellors' training programme
Hyderabad: Education Minister P. Sabitha Indira Reddy inaugurated two-day Students Counsellors' training programme being conducted by Department of Intermediate Education at Sarojini Naidu Vanita Maha Vidyalaya, Nampally here on Tuesday.
The programme was presided by Education Department Secretary B.Janardhan Reddy while Board of Intermediate Education Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel was also present. The programme has been organised "Student Counsellors' Training Programme" to curb the suicidal tendencies among the Students to remove the fear of examination and instil confidence in the Students.
Dr.C.Veerender, Dr.Yandamoori Veerendranath, Gampa Nageshwar Rao and Dr.K.Niranjan Reddy are the Resource persons on Psychology session. Mrs.Sangeetha, Mrs.Nalini Jayanthi and Dr.Pari Plavi are the Resource persons on `I-fearfulness and Meditation' session.
The Directorate of Intermediate Education has identified 404 Junior Lecturers from the 404 Government Junior Colleges as the Student Counsellors. They attend the Two-day Training programme.
Syed Omer Jaleel, in his speech, briefed the purpose and relevance of the training programme. He said that the forthcoming IPE 2020 should be free from suicidal attempts by the Intermediate students. He stated that all the Student Counsellors will be provided do's and do not's a list at the end of the training to counsel the Students.
Janardhan Reddy explained 10 commandments to reduce stress and pressure among all the people especially the Students. He also stated that both pressure and stress are inevitable in one's life but with reasonable quantity to improve one's quality. The Secretary ordered the Commissioner of Intermediate Education to extend the same programme for all the Principals of 404 Government Junior Colleges, as the Principal has a vital role in counselling the Students.
Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy expressed her happiness over her presence at Vanita Maha Vidyalaya as an Education Minister. She is the alumni of Vanita Maha Vidyalaya. She recalled her moments of +2 education in Vanita Maha Vidyalaya. She stated that Intermediate was a turning point in one's life. Both Parents and Teachers have to handle the +2 Students with the utmost care, as the +2 Student faces a lot of physical, mental and hormonal (biological) changes. She appreciated the Commissioner for taking up this program to safeguard the lives of students.
She concluded by advising the Commissioner of Intermediate Education and Secretary, Education Department to extend the same programme for all the Private and Corporate College Lecturers as most of the suicidal attempts are from the Private and Corporate Junior Colleges.
The Commissioner of Intermediate Education informed that similar training classes will be organized shortly for all the Private Junior Colleges with their identified Student Counsellors.
