Hyderabad: Following the rout in the Dubbaka by-elections and lacklustre performance in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) seems to have decided to pull up it socks.

Anticipating by-election to Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency along with the West Bengal Assembly polls in early 2021, the TRS has started working out its strategies well ahead of the other parties. The by-election to the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency is necessitated by the death of TRS MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah and the ruling party understandably does not want to give a chance to the BJP which is on a winning trail in the State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is said to be preparing special development plan for the poll-bound constituency which is dominated by Yadav and tribal communities. As a first step, the Chief Minister had recently sanctioned a government degree college in Halia mandal headquarters in the Sagar Assembly segment.

"KCR has already constituted special teams with senior leaders to identify people's problems in the segment and address them on a priority basis. A special development plan for the constituency is on the cards," a senior leader told The Hans India. Chandrashekar Rao, it is learnt, held teleconference with some senior leaders of the constituency.

Sources said Chandrashekar Rao had sought a detailed report on the development programmes taken up in the Sagar Assembly segment since 2014 and the pending issues mainly irrigation facility, education and health infrastructure and progress in two-bedroom housing in the constituency.

The list of beneficiaries of all welfare schemes mainly Rythu Bandhu, Aasra pension and Kalyana Lakshmi etc has already been compiled and submitted to the Chief Minister. The impact of LRS (Land Regularisation Scheme) will be ascertained soon. The party is also likely to decide on the candidate soon so that they can be ahead of others in campaign.
