Don't harass, fleece passengers: District Collector Devasena
Peddapalli: District Collector Devasena on Saturday asked the contract drivers conductors of RTC busses not to harass passengers and do not charge more than the prescribed ticket prices.
She was holding a review meeting with officials concerned here at the camp office at the Collectorate in Peddapalli. The Collector ordered the contract drivers and conductors to accept all types of subsidy bus passes which are sanctioned by the government and to collect the money which was prescribed by the RTC from the passengers and charge no extra money from the travelers.
She also asked them to paste a sheet on the buses mentioning the charges that are applied for various destinations besides displaying a notice board in every booth and bus station mentioning that all types of bus passes are accepted. She also told them to establish a control room in every bus station.
As the schools and colleges are about to reopen from Monday, the Collector told officials to run the bus services without causing any inconvenience to students. All buses must be maintained neat and clean along with checking their fitness regularly and daily before taking the bus on to the road.
Collector Devasena ordered the police officials to provide tight police security in every bus station by deploying the maximum number of police personnel to prevent any untoward incidents along with imposing section 144 in every bus station.
She ordered the Motor Vehicle inspectors of the Road Transport department to conduct sudden inspections and take stringent actions against the drivers and conductors who are collecting high charges from the passengers.
DCP Sudharshan Goud, District Incharge Revenue Officer K Narasimha Murthy, District Road Transport Officer Afreen Siddique, Motor Vehicle inspectors, Depot Managers and DE of Rural Water Supply department and others were present.
