Covid-19 tally jumps to 2,256 in Telangana; four deaths reported
1,908 are natives of Telangana while the rest of the 348 have been infected abroad and in other States
Hyderabad: Covid-19 cases continue to surge in Telangana with overall tally touching 2256 on Thursday. Also, four deaths were reported in last 24 hours. Health department authorities on Thursday have added 158 cases to Wednesday's tally of 2,098 Among the fresh cases, GHMC accounted 58 cases, while for the second day 49people deported from Saudi Arabia were tested positive.
In the cases break up mentioned in daily bulletin of the state health department, it was stated that of the total cases so far 1908 are natives of Telangana while the rest of the 348 have got infection in abroad and in other states and were found to be positive after reaching Telangana. This includes 175 migrants, 143 deportees from Saudi Arabia and 30 foreign evacuees.
It may be mentioned here that Government of India has airlifted 458 deportees from Saudi Arabia. These deportees have been quarantined in government quarantine centers in the state. Till date 143 deportees have tested positive for covid-19 and are being treated.
Large number of migrants are returning from various states of the country. These migrants are being home quarantined and monitored by the district authorities. Symptomatic migrants are tested. Majority of the migrants are arriving from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar etc.
The general public are requested to inform the local authorities in case they identify any new persons, migrants who have newly arrived in the towns and villages to ensure that the migrants strictly adhere to home quarantine guidelines. As on Thursday, the total discharges stood at 1345, active cases at 844 and deaths at 67.
