Rangareddy: As a part of 31st National Road Safety Week, the Rachakonda traffic police conducted two unique awareness programmes on road safety. The first was held in the auditorium of Ranga Reddy Court premises involving the staff from different courts of Ranga Reddy. In this programme, 1st Metropolitan Magistrate, Rangareddy, N Narsing Rao, DCP Traffic, N Divya Charan Rao and CP Rachakonda Mahesh Bhagwat, advised the court staff to follow traffic rules and to reduce speed on service roads and take utmost care at U turns. Mahesh Bhagwat stated that the government facilitated the commuters by laying outer ring road with an aim to decrease travel time and kept 100 km as a speed limit. But most of the commuters were taking advantage of the good condition of road and overspending their vehicles as a result more accidents were occurring on ORR. The CP also insisted on the consequences of drunken driving and urged to avoid it.
Negligence of drivers cause of most accidents
In the second programme organised in Kamineni Hospital auditorium the traffic police ensured the presence of drivers of taxi cabs of TCS, Infosys, Tata Aero Space, Genpact, Buses & Auto drivers of different schools and colleges involved in commuting school and college students and exhibited the videos of different accidents occurred due to the negligence of drivers and made them to understand their role and the importance of the lives of innocent students and others. In this programme, the CP highlighted the need for inculcating traffic discipline among the drivers to ensure the safety of public. Bhagwat said most of the road accidents occur due to negligence of the drivers like speaking on mobile phones, Overloading the buses, Overspeeding, Allowing foot board travelling etc. He said the bad condition of vehicles and roads was also another cause for the accidents. The CP said the citizens should inculcate traffic discipline among them and teach their families particularly children about the road safety aspect.
The Commissioner asked the public to cooperate with the police and follow traffic rules, saying that the current year marked for the road and women safety. On this occasion, the Commissioner felicitated Jeevan Dhan team working to spread awareness on first aid treatment wherein the trainers Laxman, Charan and Ramesh were honoured with mementos appreciating their services. The Traffic safety expert speaker Dheeraj was also honoured with a memento appreciating his services rendered for a good cause.
CEO, Kamineni Hospitals, Dr Ashwin Shaw appreciated the efforts of traffic police taking up awareness programmes. DCP LB Nagar Sunpreet Singh, DCP Crimes P Yadagiri, DCP Traffic N Divya Charan Rao, Addl. DCsP Md Tajuddin Ahmed and G Manohar. ACsP, Inspectors of L&O and traffic were among those present.
