Patancheru: District Superintendent of Police Chandrashekhar Goud asserted here on Wednesday that the cordon and search operations are intended to prevent and control crimes.

Speaking after seven CI, 12 SIs and 90 police personnel took up a cordon and search operation in the Lakshminagar area of IDA Bollaram, under the leadership of DSP Rajeshwara Rao, he said there is scope for outsiders working in odd jobs while staying in the IDA and resorting to anti-social activities.

During the C&S operations residents were being cautioned to be on guard against such non-locals. The SP, who joined the drive, moved from house to house giving suggestions. He said house-owners should verify documents of those hailing from Bihar, Odisha and Assam before giving their houses on rent.

Goud told The Hans India that the police had information that the non-local people were involved in trading and consumption of intoxicants like ganja, while recalling the registration of some cases in the past. He advised the residents to give information to the police about such people.

During the search, the police took into custody for questioning some persons without valid documents and seized ten autos and 70 two-wheelers. Among those who took part in the cordon and search were CIs Prabhakar, Naresh, Prashanth, Ram Reddy and Lalu Naik.
