Sircilla: District Rural Development Officer Ravinder appealed the villagers to construct soak pit in front yard of their houses to harvest every drop of rainwater.

As part of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, an awareness programme on construction of soak pits was held under Sri Veeranjaneya Grama Samakhya Society on Thursday in Padmanagar village of Thungalapalli mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district.

Speaking on the occasion, DRDO Ravinder said people will suffer a lot due to acute shortage of water in near future as groundwater table is decreasing day-by-day.

To overcome this problem, it is must that every household should construct a soak pit in the premises of their houses to harvest every drop of rainwater.

The women of a family must take the initiation and construct soak pit as early as possible so as not to waste rainwater to increase groundwater table.

They also must participate actively in Haritha Haram programme to increase the green cover along with giving protection to the planted saplings.

APD Anjaiah and Narasimhulu, DPM LH Krishna Rao, MPDO Vijayendar Reddy, village sarpanch, MPTC, EGS APO Naga Raju and IKP APO Sudhakar were present along with the members of Mahila Samakhya.
