Hyderabad: Congress and TRS camps were involved in a face-off again on ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region) in assembly session held on Saturday.

CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that TRS, which maintained friendly relations with the NDA government in New Delhi in the first term, did not pursue it with all seriousness intentionally.

He said such a huge project that was supposed to create employment in lakhs and get big revenues was not achieved because of lack of commitment from TRS government side.

Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the project, if realised would have created 70 lakh job opportunities (direct and indirect), and also would have ensured exports cross the Rs 2 lakh crore mark in the next 20 years.

Hyderabad and its outskirts would have developed in a big way with establishment of IT clusters as also the road infrastructure, he pointed out.

In response, KTR, mincing no words, stated that the previous UPA government did not give a "nayapaise" (not even a single paise) to ITIR.

He further pointed out that projections given for 20 years were achieved more than half by his government in just 5 years in terms of IT exports.
