Congress accuses govt of neglecting public healthcare
The pathetic condition of MGM Hospital is a replica of healthcare facilities being provided in the State, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) national spokesperson Dr Dasoju Sravan
Warangal: The pathetic condition of MGM Hospital is a replica of healthcare facilities being provided in the State, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) national spokesperson Dr Dasoju Sravan said addressing the dharna organised by the functionaries of All India Professionals' Congress (AIPC) demanding life-saving mechanical ventilation (MV) in the hospital on Saturday.
Sravan said that hospitals across the State don't have proper infrastructural facilities and staff. "The government not only failed to provide specialist doctors but also required medical officers and paramedical staff.
The MGM which is the only lifeline hospital in north Telangana region doesn't have an adequate number of life-saving ventilators," Sravan said, accusing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of being insensitive towards people's problems.
Referring to the case booked against a veterinary doctor for the death of a pet dog in Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of Chief Minister, Sravan wanted to know whether cases also be booked against KCR for the death of patients in Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and MGM Hospital in the last two days.
"Even though a large number of tribals are suffering from viral and other fevers, the Medical and Health department is not in a position to rescue them," he said. Instead of thinking about the plight of people, the TRS people's leaders are engaged in a fight claiming themselves as the real owners of their party, Sravan said.
He demanded the State government to declare medical and health emergency, and make arrangements to treat the patients free of cost in the State-run and private hospitals. If the government continues to ignore the healthcare, the Congress will stage protests in all districts, he said.
Warangal District Congress Committee president N Rajender Reddy criticised the TRS leaders for failing to keep their promises. He advised the government to focus on people's healthcare instead of wasting time on reviews. It's time for the government to ensure infrastructural facilities in MGM hospital besides taking up recruitment of vacancy posts.
All India Professionals' Congress Warangal chapter president Dr Puli Anil Kumar, Dr Ramakrishna, Ramesh, Prashanth and Srikanth sat on one-day deeksha. Senior leaders Katla Srinivas Rao, Namindla Srinivas, K Srinivas, D Srinivas, P Venkat ReddyMd Ayub, T Rammohan Rao, M Satyanarayana and T Laxma Reddy were present.
