Party delegation meets the Chief Secretary to demand that the government fill all vacancies
Hyderabad: State BJP unit has upped the ante ahead of the elections to the municipalities and municipal corporation. The party leader on Friday met State Chief Secretary S K Josh and State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy and demanded that the proposed new Municipal Act be in public domain.
A delegation led by the party BJP leader and MLC N Ramachander Rao, party official spokesperson Anugula Rakesh Reddy submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary with a charter of demands to take immediate steps for filling the vacant government jobs.
The delegation recalled that the State government, while answering questions in the State Assembly and Legislative Council, had said there were 1.12 lakh vacancies in the government departments.
They said taking into consideration the vacancies arisen on account of retirement of employees in the last four years, the number of vacancies had gone up to 2.5 lakh.
The delegation said while 25 lakh unemployed had registered themselves with the Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) trusting the assurances of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
But, the State government had washed of its hands by filling only 25,000 vacancies, majority of them in the police department.
The delegation urged the State government to immediately take steps to notify an annual recruitment calendar, release white paper on a department-wise number of vacancies, posts sanctioned and notifications issued to fill the same.
In another representation submitted to the SEC, the BJP delegation pointed out discrepancies in schedule given by the government and State Election Commission for conducting of urban local body elections.
The party delegation led by N Ramachander Rao, State vice-president Dr S Malla Reddy and State Legal Cell convenor Ravindra Viswanath pointed out the delay in providing draft voters list and objected to decision to give only one day time in filing objections.
They told the Commission that Dharmapuri and Jagityal voters lists were provided only on Friday with the final date to file objections fixed the next day. The party official spokesperson Kolli Madhavi, while addressing the media, demanded that the State government place its proposed new Municipal Act in the public domain.
They said the State government had earlier got its Panchayat Raj Act within 15 minutes in the State legislature without giving sufficient time for discussion.
Stating that the party MLA and working president K T Rama Rao has turned a "Twitter bird" to respond to various issues, while there is "zero governance" since September 6. She alleged the division of municipal wards had been done for the political advantage of the ruling TRS.
Madhavi demanded that the government release a white paper on the funds given to the municipal bodies in the last five years other than those from the Central government. Responding to a question, she said, "KCR may claim anything.
But Hyderabad ranked second highest among metro cities in the country for crimes against women. The Home Minister of of acting as if he was the Minister for some persons only," she said.
