Warangal: A video clipping that exposed exorcism activities in the Sakhi, a One Stop Centre for women seeking to redressal of their grievances funded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, landed its administrators and organisers in the soup. Taking a serious note of it, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil terminated the services of Sakhi centre administrator G Vanaja.
It may be mentioned here that video clippings of Pallepadu Damodar, secretary of the Sarvodaya Youth Organisation (SYO), performing exorcism on women have gone viral on social networking sites besides attracting media glare in last couple of days, drawing criticism from various quarters. Damodar was seen performing exorcism with his fingers snapping repeatedly by mentioning the Almighty of a particular religion.
The Collector, who held a meeting with Warangal Urban District Welfare Officer (DWO) M Sabitha, administrators of Sakhi centre and the organisers NGO Sarvodaya Youth Organisation, elicited information about the incident. The Collector, who sought an explanation from the Sakhi centre organisers, terminated the services of Vanaja.
The Collector further cautioned the organisers not to involve in any kind of unconstitutional and immoral activities that denigrate the reputation of the government. It may be noted here that the Sakhi centre which is located in Excise Colony of Hanamkonda is being run by Pallepadu Damodar on behalf of the State Government.
According to Warangal Urban DWO M Sabitha, who conducted an inquiry, said that she had submitted a detailed report to the Collector after the authorities have received complaints of finger snapping exorcism from the neighbours of Sakhi centre.
