ASP expresses concern over drug abuse among youth in Gadwal

Gadwal: Observing the International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking on Wednesday, the Gadwal police lead by Additional Superintendent of Police K Krishna, on Wednesday flagged off a huge awareness campaign rally in Gadwal.

Raising slogan against the drug abuse, the school and college students took out the awareness rally from Ambedkar Chowk to Old Bus Stand.

While flagging off the rally, ASP Krishna said, "drug addiction and illicit trafficking are the most dangerous menaces that are adversely impacting the youth in society across the world. Therefore it is the responsibility of each and every individual to wake up and spread the awareness about the bad impacts of drug addiction on youth and their career. Particularly, parents and teachers must put the children under observation and guide them on the right path."

He expressed his concerned that youth are easily attracted to fascination, luxury and easy way of life and are being easily lured by unscrupulous anti-social elements and committing various crimes.

All over the world the United Nations (UN) has decided 26th June be observed as the International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. "The main objective behind observing this day is to spread awareness in society about the bad effects of drug addiction and illicit trafficking and make our society healthier and more prosperous," said Krishna.

The ASP expressed concern that in many areas the youth are getting habituated and addicted to alcohol, ganja, cocaine, heroin, ketamine and other narcotic drugs. Usually people who are under constant pressure and severe psychological strain are usually victims of the narcotic drugs.

The anti-social elements in order to mint money are supplying these narcotics by smuggling from various sources and the youth are being spoilt with this dangerous drug abuse.

The ASP advised the parents that usually children who are under pressure to excel in studies and youth who are alone and under pressure for jobs usually get addicted and fall easy prey to this dangerous menace.

He said every individual in society must be wary and must take corrective steps to ensure their children, students and youth do not side track and spoil their careers.

The ASP warned the anti-social groups and said the police will not hesitate to invoke Preventive Detention Act against anyone who is found to peddling the narcotic drugs and other dangerous drugs to the youth. He advised youth not to fall prey to bad habits, as the anti social elements make them addicted to drugs and later use them for human trafficking and even indulge them in the illegal organ sale business without their knowledge.

Gadwal DSP Shakeer Hussain, Circle Inspector Hanmanthu, Satyanarayana, Gadwal town Sub Inspector, Ramesh, Principal of Krishnaveni School and students took part in the programme. The rally was taken out from Ambedkar Chowk to Old Bus Stand.
