Hyderabad/ Narayanpet: The police cracked the murder case of veterinary doctor Dr Priyanka and took four accused into custody from Jeklair and Gudigandla villages of Makthal mandal in Narayanpet district on Friday. The four arrested were working as lorry drivers and cleaners and are aged between 20-25 years.
The Shamshabad police after securing all the clues and circumstantial evidences deployed 10 teams to nab the culprits on Thursday. The search teams after a thorough investigation zeroed in on the house of one Mohammad Pasha, in Jaklair village, which is 12 kilometres from Makthal mandal. The police arrested the accused from his house around 2 am in the early hours on Friday.
According to police, Mohammad Pasha was the main culprit behind the heinous crime and allegedly executed the plan of abduction, rape and murder of Dr Priyanka. He later reportedly poured kerosene and burnt her dead body under a bridge at Chetanpally crossroad on NH 44 near Shadnagar.
Another police team which went to Gudigandla village clamped down on the houses of other accused Jollu Naveen Kumar, Jollu Shiva and Chennakeshavulu and arrested them around 2 am in the early hours and shifted them to Hyderabad for further investigation.
According to Jeklair villagers, Mohammad Pasha, has been working as a lorry driver for the past one-year and was very calm by nature and never got involved in any disputes. However, the other accused Jollu Naveen Kumar, Jollu Shiva and Chennakeshavulu were reportedly exactly opposite and were involved in many disputes and litigations in their village.
When The Hans India contacted main accused's mother, she said that her son was in a disturbed state of mind when he came home late on Wednesday night. "My son came home late in the night and looked disturbed. When I asked him, what happened, he did not reveal the issue causing him distress but said he wanted to sleep.
I just asked him to go to sleep. I never expected the police to come and arrest my son. The police alleged that my son has killed a girl. But as far as I know my son, he is not that kind of a person. He must have been motivated by others to do such a heinous crime," she said.
The villagers of Kollur, where Dr Priyanka was posted as veterinary doctor, said that she was a dedicated and committed doctor who came to the village every day at around 9.30 am and left work at 2.30 pm after completing her duties.
While speaking to The Hans India, Kollur Sarpanch Raghu said, "we are all shocked after watching the news that our veterinary doctor was murdered and charred to death by some miscreants. We demand that the government take stern action and give capital punishment to whoever is involved in the murder."
