Adilabad: Repeal Contributory Pension System, demands Telangana Prantha Upadhyaya Sangham
Large scale protests took place in Adilabad district on Sunday, demanding abolition of Contributory Pension System (CPS).
Adilabad: Large scale protests took place in Adilabad district on Sunday, demanding abolition of Contributory Pension System (CPS). Agitation were held in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal districts, in which teachers, employees and members of Telangana Prantha Upadhyaya Sangham (TPUS) took part in large numbers.
The TPUS members staged a dharna at Ambedkar statue here. Reminding the promise given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of abolishing CPS when separate Telangana State was formed, the protestors criticised KCR for not implementing his promise even six years after the State formation.
They said the then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had implemented the CPS on September 1, 2004, which turned as a curse for teachers and employees. Under the CPS, pensioners will get a minimum of Rs 650 and a maximum of Rs 1,400 per month, which is worse than the government's Aasara and disabled pension.
TPUS leaders asked Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao to solve their problem. Along with TPUS president Pogula Bhumaiah, Bandy Ramesh and Serum Sammaiah submitted a memorandum to the MLA.
Telangana United Teachers Federation (TUTF) leader Srikanth demanded cancellation of CPS. Pointing out that this system was implemented 15 years ago, he called for a change in the policy.
