Warangal: In a major catch, the police arrested two interstate peddlers and seized 320 kg ganja worth around Rs 32 lakh from them. Police also seized two cars, three mobile phones and two knives from them.

Disclosing the details to media persons here on Saturday, Commissioner of Police V Ravinder said that the accused has been identified as Sheikh Sohail of Nagaram in Nizamabad district and Md Saddam alias Sheikh of Millat Nagar in Nanded district (Maharashtra).

"Based on a tip-off, the Hasanparthy police intercepted two cars carrying ganja near Yellapur road over bridge and arrested the duo. The other member of the gang – Md Younis Mohinuddin of Degloor Naka in Nanded district – is yet to be caught.

He got down the car midway for a personal work before the police intercepted the cars," he said. The trio procured 320 kg ganja from a person in Visakhapatnam. They packed the contraband into two and four kg packets and concealed in the two cars. The gang had a plan to sell the ganja in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

The commissioner said that the trio who works as car drivers befriended while running taxis between Nanded and Nizamabad. To make easy money, they devised a plan to trade ganja which has a huge demand in Maharashtra and UP. They hired two rented cars for the purpose. However, they were caught on their way back from Visakhapatnam.
