3-year-old dies after falling into borewell in Telangana's Medak, body recovered

A three-year-old boy who fell into a borewell in Podchanpally of Papannpet Mandal in Medak district of Telangana has died and his body was recovered on Thursday morning after eight and a half hours of the rescue operation.

The boy fell into the 120-feet borewell accidentally while playing out in the open agricultural area. It is learned that the borewell was left abandoned since it did not yield water. The police and revenue officials rushed to the spot and sent the oxygen supplies into the well. While the earth excavation machines were also pressed into service to dig around the well.

The NDRF team also rushed to the spot and continued the rescue operations. However, the rescue operation failed with the authorities recovering the motionless body of the child.

The boy identified as Saivardhan is the third child of Govardhan and Naveena who was working in the field when the incident happened. However, they did not notice their child being slipped into the borewell. The officials said that the Govardhan has dug three borewells in his field but none of them yielded water.

The constituency MLA asked the farmers to close the borewell immediately if it did not yield water. Medak district collector said that action will be taken against the borewell drillers for digging the borewells without any prior permission.
