Sangareddy: A house belonged to a farmer of Janwada village in Nagalgidda mandal reduced to ashes on Saturday. The farmer, G Siddppa, stored his agricultural produces in his house, and fire broke out due to a short circuit at the house.
The family members ran out of the house immediately, leaving quintals of Bengal gram, Soya, Red gram and corn, along with gold, silver and cash. All the valuables turned into ashes within no time. Siddappa said the total loss is around Rs 10 lakh.
The family members criticised the electricity officials for not disconnecting the power, as there was a chance to put out fire with water. "Even fire engines did not turn up from Narayankhed in time.
Fire engines from Bidar arrived and extinguished fire, so that the fire won't spread to the entire village," they said. They appealed to the authorities to extend assistance for their loss.
