Redmi 8A is all set to launch today in India. The new Redmi phone, a successor to the Redmi 7A, has been advertised by Xiaomi via its social media channels. Xiaomi isn't hosting the event at a physical location following its trend of launching affordable smartphones via a live stream. Early teasers of the Redmi 8A launch have confirmed the presence of a waterdrop-style display notch and fast charging support. The smartphone may also come with a large-size battery. Recently a TENAA listing surfaced suggesting the key specifications of the Redmi 8A before its launch.
Redmi 8A expected price and live stream details
The Redmi 8A launch will be live-streamed at 12 pm IST through the Xiaomi India YouTube channel. You can watch it below in the embedded video. Redmi 8A is likely to match the Redmi 7A launch price beginning at Rs. 5,999 for the primary storage variant of 2GB RAM + 16GB.
Redmi 8A: Expected Specifications
According to the tweet, Redmi 8A is likely to be backed up with a 5,000 mAh battery and may also come along with fast charging support. As per the listing, Redmi 8A is expected to feature a 6.2-inch HD+ TFT display with a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. It may be powered by octa-core processor and may offer 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of inbuilt storage.
When it comes to the camera, Redmi 8A might come with a dual rear camera setup with 12 MP primary camera. An 8 MP selfie camera is likely to be featured on the front of the smartphone. This smartphone will be able to click great pictures, especially selfies. Redmi 8A may sport Aura wave grip design. The smartphone may measure 156.3x75.4x9.4mm and weigh 190 grams.
Xiaomi India chief Manu Kumar Jain in a recent teaser disclosed that the Redmi 8A would come with a USB Type-C port, which isn't very common in the affordable price range mobiles.
On the cost front, the Redmi 8A is also estimated to be budget-friendly just like all other Redmi A-series smartphones.
