- 'Confidential Mode’ allows users to add a passcode to the mail
As we all are aware Google keeps on adding new features to its email client to give the best experience to its users. One of the latest features is now the users can send protected email messages. Dubbed as 'Confidential Mode', the feature allows users to add a passcode to the mail which they are sending.
The confidential mode will add a passcode to the sent mail which is generated by Google. This will also enable users to add more security as well as avoid unauthorized access.
Follow these steps to add that extra layer of security:
1. Go to www.gmail.com
2. Login into your gmail account using the login credentials
3. After you log in, click on the 'Compose' button which you will find on the top left of the screen
4. In the compose window, enter the recipient's email ID and compose the email
5. Now, find the lock with a clock icon located just beside the send button at the bottom
6. Click on it and choose the option 'Confirm by SMS passcode.'
7. Choose the time limit of expiration
8. Enter recipient mobile number where you want to send the confirmation SMS code
9. The recipient will receive the email message saying 'Enter the passcode', and the recipient has to enter the passcode which was received on the mobile to verify the email
10. Once the passcode is entered, the message will be unlocked.
11. By choosing the option 'No SMS passcode' option, users can encrypt their messages without the Passcode
Note: For this passcode protected emails the recipients will not have the options to forward, copy, print, or download this email.
