The asteroid, measuring an impressive 720 feet in diameter—approximately twice the length of two cricket pitches—is scheduled to make a close pass by our planet on September 15, 2024. Although it will be positioned about 620,000 miles away from Earth—roughly 2.6 times the distance from Earth to the Moon—the asteroid's swift speed of 25,000 mph has garnered significant attention.

Asteroid 2024 ON was first identified by NASA’s Near-Earth Object Observations Programme and has since been under constant observation.
