Apple announces Apple Arcade — the world's first game subscription service
- It’s the world’s first gaming service for mobile, desktop and the living room
- Apple Arcade to feature Brand New, Original Games from Acclaimed Indie Developers, Major Studios and Legendary Creators Hironobu Sakaguchi, Ken Wong and Will Wright
Cupertino, California: Apple announced Apple Arcade, a game subscription service that will feature more than 100 latest and exclusive games, including original releases from renowned creators Hironobu Sakaguchi, Ken Wong, Will Wright and dozens more. The games of Apple Arcade will redefine the games and they will be elaborated according to the originality, the quality, the creativity, the fun and its attractiveness for players of all the ages. Apple Arcade will give consumers the freedom to try any game in their collection of selected titles that are all you can play, have no ads, track ads or additional purchases, and respect the user's privacy.
The App Store is the most successful and vibrant gaming platform in the world, with almost 300,000 free and paid games. Hundreds of millions of players around the world enjoy free games, backed by advertising or in-app purchases. Paid games are often critically acclaimed and loved by the people who play them, but competing for free is difficult, so even the best of these games have only reached a smaller audience. With the simplicity of a single subscription, Apple Arcade will offer games like these to the more than one billion customers of the App Store. Apple Arcade is the perfect complement to the already hugely popular catalogue of free games in the App Store, which makes iOS the main gaming platform for players of all ages.
Apple not only selects the games in Apple Arcade but also contributes to the development costs and works closely with the creators to bring the games to life. Created by some of the most critically acclaimed game developers in the world, Apple Arcade games will entertain customers with incredibly fun games and immersive stories, while capturing the imagination with original art and music. It will include games from Annapurna Interactive, Bossa Studios, Cartoon Network, Finji, Giant Squid, Klei Entertainment, Konami, LEGO, Mistwalker Corporation, SEGA, Snowman, ustwo games and dozens more.
Apple's senior vice president of global marketing, Phil Schiller told, "The app store is the largest and most successful gaming platform in the world, and now we're going to take the games even further with Apple Arcade, the first subscription service for games for mobile devices, desktops and living rooms.
He said, "We are working with some of the most innovative game developers in the world to create more than 100 new and exclusive games for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Apple games "Apple Arcade" will be really great for families, respect user privacy and will not have any ads or need any additional purchases to be made.
Prices and availability
Apple Arcade may be available later this year in more than 150 countries across the world. The price is unknown at the moment, but seeing how Apple's other premium service announced at the March 25 event, Apple News +, costs $ 9.99 a month, it would not be too far-fetched to predict a similar price for Apple Arcade.
It seems that mobile games will become a much more interesting space at the end of 2019 when both Apple Arcade and Google Stadia promise to revitalize this large but stagnant niche of mobile software, which has been struggling to find high-quality titles of its own and it's based on free-shadow tactics to play.
