Zoho has expanded its messaging platform Arattai with a new service aimed at businesses and organisations. The company has launched Arattai-for-Business, an app that allows businesses to communicate directly with their customers through Arattai.

Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu announced the launch in a post, saying, “The Arattai-for-Business app is live. This app allows businesses to communicate with customers.”

The company has also introduced the Arattai Business Platform alongside the new app. The platform is designed to help organisations connect their existing business software and automation systems with Arattai.

This could make it easier for businesses to use their existing systems while handling customer communication through the messaging platform. The move also takes Arattai beyond its role as a consumer-focused messaging service.

Arattai Business Platform for government services

Zoho is making the Arattai Business Platform available free of charge to government and public services. Railways is one of the services specifically mentioned by Vembu.

“The Arattai Business Platform is free for government and public services like Railways. We are working on those integrations right now,” Sridhar Vembu wrote in the post.

Zoho is currently working on integrations that could allow government departments and public-service organisations to use Arattai to communicate with users. However, the company has not announced when these integrations will be completed.

Free messages for healthcare and education

Healthcare and educational institutions will also get a free messaging allowance under the new offering.

Vembu said, “In addition, for healthcare and educational institutions, we give a free allowance of 1 milllion messages per month.”

The free allowance could be useful for organisations that need to send a large number of messages to patients, students, parents or other users.

The latest announcement gives Arattai a stronger business focus at a time when messaging platforms are increasingly being used by organisations for customer support and regular communication.

For businesses, the ability to connect messaging with existing software and automation systems could be particularly useful for handling communication at scale.

Zoho has not yet provided details about pricing for businesses beyond the free provisions announced for government and public services, healthcare and educational institutions. The company has also not shared a timeline for the planned Railway and other public-service integrations.

For now, the launch marks a new step for Arattai, with Zoho looking to bring the platform into business, government and institutional communication.
