Paytm Calls AnyDesk and TeamViewer Apps as Security Risks
Paytm is now calling TeamViewer and AnyDesk apps as security risks.
It is nice when financial applications like Paytm take precautions and warn the user of possible fraud or spam before being used. The famous mobile-first payment service in India has blocked specific applications which could be used to do fraud or spam on innocent users.
Paytm is now calling TeamViewer and AnyDesk apps as security risks. These apps have been blocked, and if they are still installed on your mobile, then Paytm will not work. Initially this was reported by PiunikaWeb and Android Police.
The report states that users who have these remote control apps installed on their smartphones are seeing this pop up in the Paytm app. The popup says that the apps listed must be deleted. Until the apps have been, removed the popup does not disappear. Several users took to Twitter to complain about the extreme security measures. Paytm clarified that it has to take this step to prevent fraud.
The report states that TeamViewer is also individually in touch will the wallet service. If you have also been affected, Paytm suggests you to switch to work profile on your smartphone if you are not interested in deleting these apps. Though, just deletion is not a practical option.
Paytm's statement says, "Hi! It is the security feature designed to prevent the frauds. This feature helps prevent fraud by not letting fraudsters using these apps. We request you to kindly use your work profile in order to use these apps. (1/2)"
