Highlights

  • BSNL is working on a JioFiber like 3-in-1 plan at an affordable price of under Rs 700
  • BSNL to offer broadband, cable TV and landline service in one package.
  • BSNL is expected to launch this plan in the Vizag region initially

As per Telecom Talk on Andhra Jyoti, BSNL is working along with local cable TV operators in the Vishakapatnam province to offers a three-in-one service like Jio's JioFiber subscription. The report also states that BSNL is in talks with local cable TV operators and is willing to merge for offering it broadband and landline connections along with the cable TV connections. And for this, BSNL needs to upgrade infrastructure like JioFiber.

To offer the three-in-one service, BSNL will provide a single fiber optical fiber cable to the customer's household. Just like JioFiber, a single fiber optical fiber cable will provide all three services. The same connection will be used for the cable TV connection, domestic broadband connection, as well as the landline service.

Just like the configuration of JioFiber, BSNL and cable TV operators will provide an ONT device to fuse all three services. BSNL will mainly deal with broadband and landline services, while cable TV operators will handle DTH operations. Therefore, the set-top box will be offered by the cable television operator.

BSNL 3-in-1 plan availability and pricing

As of now, there's no info about the pricing, but it is assumed that BSNL may opt for predatory pricing to compete with JioFiber's offering. JioFiber plans will start from as low as Rs 700 per month. BSNL may also look to undercut JioFiber with lower prices and to offer all three services clubbed together in one bundle.

Right now, it is expected to launch this in the Vizag region and then slowly expand to the rural and semi-urban markets where JioFiber will take some time to reach.
