Pre-orders for the premium device opened globally on Friday, October 16. Buyers in the US and several other markets rushed to place orders, with the first available batch reportedly disappearing within minutes. Apple is preparing to officially launch the device in stores on October 23, but customers who missed the early ordering window are now facing significantly longer waits.
Delivery dates pushed to January
The surge in demand means some customers are now being given an estimated delivery date of January 25, 2027. The rapid sellout marks an important moment for Apple as it takes on established foldable-phone players such as Samsung.
The market also reacted positively to the launch. Apple shares climbed two percent in premarket trading on Friday after a response, to the launch of the new device.
However, Apple has not said how many iPhone Duo devices were available, during the first pre-order period. This makes it hard to figure out if the longer delivery times are because lots of people wanted the product or because not many were made available at first.
iPhone Duo price in India
The iPhone Duo comes with a high price tag. In India the iPhone Duo becomes the expensive iPhone ever made by Apple. The 256GB base model of the iPhone Duo costs Rs 2,99,900. Customers who choose the 2TB variant of the iPhone Duo will have to spend Rs 4,49,900.
In comparison the phone has a starting price of $1,999, in the US. Apple is providing the foldable in two colour choices: Star White and Night Sky.
iPhone Duo features and specifications
The iPhone Duo uses a book-style folding design. When closed the iPhone Duo looks like a passport and on the side the iPhone Duo shows a small 5.4‑inch cover display.
Opening the device shows a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR screen. This gives users a display. The bigger display works a lot like a tablet. Apple has also added a nano-texture finish to the display. This finish helps reduce reflections. The nano-texture finish also helps make the folding crease less visible.
The device is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chipset, which is made to give performance and handle tough multitasking. The camera setup has two 48‑megapixel cameras, including a Fusion Main camera and an Ultra‑Wide lens that also works for macro shooting.
The iPhone Duo runs on iOS 27. Apple has redesigned iOS 27 to make the foldable experience feel smooth and familiar. I think the design changes make using the iPhone Duo feel natural. Because the iPhone Duo has a dual-battery setup Apple has removed the physical SIM tray. As a result the iPhone Duo is an eSIM- smartphone.
