A minor girl who disappeared from a village in Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri district in October 2020 was spotted residing with her 35-year-old male friend. She met him through online social platforms via Instagram. After a large inquiry by state police that included travels to numerous states and the inspection of CCTV material at multiple sites.
The two managed to elude the search teams until last week, when they were apprehended in Vellore. On Saturday, a police unit apprehended the girl and her buddy, a fitness trainer accused of being engaged in multiple theft incidents.
Deputy Superintendent of Police S Vinod said that the girl's father had submitted a missing person report in October 2020. According to the case, she was 16 at the time. Her male companion had kidnapped her. However, because they left no evidence, we had no idea where they were for a long time. She became friends with him on Instagram, but she never touched her phone after she left the house. When she went missing, the sole evidence was CCTV footage of him transporting her on a motorcycle.
As a result, they had to sift through material from over 40 CCTV cameras to figure out who he was. When police teams visited Bangalore, Telangana, and Kerala to trace his journey with the lady on a motorcycle. However, because he was always moving from one location to another, they were always a day or two late. The girl's father filed a plea in Madras High Court since the investigation had not progressed. According to him, the court was briefed on the case's complexity.
Despite the fact that the accused and the girl avoided using their telephones, the police intended to find him down using his Aadhaar number. They hoped he wouldn't have to get a new phone number because of the identity paper.
Finally, they received important information that the two were in the Ranga Reddy district of Telangana. A police squad led by Sub Inspector Sundaramoorthy went to the scene, but learned that the two had departed the day before for Chennai. A huge search operation was undertaken by the police. Before they were taken into custody from Vellore on Saturday, some 150 individuals were questioned and CCTV video from several sites was checked.
As per the authorities, the female is now 17years old and had gave birth to a kid three months ago. The mother and infant were brought before the Council for Child Welfare after undergoing the appropriate medical examinations. The individual was identified by the authorities as a repeat offender.
