Hyderabad: The 13th Jaya Rao Memorial Football Tournament saw Tony FC, St Patrick’s, Game Point and Pro Kick qualify for the semi-finals after an action-packed league phase.
The tournament was inaugurated by former India captain Victor Amal Raj. Seven teams competed in two groups, with around 140 players participating.
In Group A, Tony FC topped with seven points, followed by Game Point and VVNC on five each, with Tony FC advancing as group winners. Gopal Brothers did not turn up. In Group B, St Patrick’s led with seven points, followed by Pro Kick with five, Bolarum with three and Don Bosco with one.
St Patrick’s beat Don Bosco 1-0 through Roshan’s long-range strike, while Tony FC defeated VVNC 2-0, with goals from Ronitha and Koushik.
