New Delhi: The Steering Committee of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) has announced a new policy to regulate professional volleyball leagues for men and women across India, aimed at ensuring structured growth while protecting players, league organisers and other stakeholders.
Under the framework, leagues will be classified into three categories—Division I, Division II and Division III—based on their scale, structure and level of competition. A key provision is the “One Athlete – One League – One Season” rule, restricting a player to participation in only one licensed league during a particular Indian volleyball season.
The policy also provides separate calendars for men’s and women’s leagues for the 2026–27 season. The VFI Steering Committee said permission to organise leagues will remain subject to submission and approval of proposals in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
