'Liverpool deserve to win,' admits Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba

Manchester United star midfielder Paul Pogba has admitted that Liverpool FC is "way ahead of everyone" and they "deserve to win the Premier League."

Pogba, who has had an injury-hit season, is still recovering and has not played for the Red Devils since the Boxing Day match.

On Monday night, Liverpool defeated West Ham and equaled Manchester City's record of 18 consecutive match wins in the top-flight English domestic tournament. Jurgen Klopp's side are 22 points clear on the top of the table and now they are just four wins away from winning their first Premier League title in 30 years.

Man Utd and Liverpool are arch-rivals and their rivalry goes decades back but Pogba said as a football lover, he needs to give the credit where its due and that Liverpool deserves to win.

"They are so way ahead of everyone else. They have not lost a single game yet this season in the league. They already have one hand on the Premier League trophy. As a Manchester United player and with the rivalry between us, we don't want them to win the title. We don't want anyone else to win apart from us, but as a football lover and a respectful player to the opposition team, I have to say that they deserve to be where they are today.

They have been even better than last season when they won the Champions League and the season before when they [lost the final to Real Madrid]," Pogba said in an interview with ESPN.

Pogba, who sustained an injury during Man Utd's win over Newcastle in December, was supposed to return in three weeks but his return has been delayed more than once now. Pogba was given the green signal to undergo a rehab separately, a decision of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that received a lot of brunts. More than that, it triggered more rumors in regards to Pogba's departure from Old Trafford at the end of the ongoing season.

Pogba's sage became more controversial when his agent. Mino Raiola interfered and told a media firm that if Man Utd failed to qualify for next season's Champions League, his client would leave the club. To which, Man Utd boss Solskjaer responded saying Pogba was not Railoa's property but he belonged to the club.

Man Utd clinched a 3-0 win over Watford in their recent Premier League match that saw them climb back to the upper part of the points table. They next face Everton, while Liverpool travels to take on Watford.
