Good news for all the IPL fans!!! We all know that ICC is thinking to postpone the T20 World Cup due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thus conducting the T20 World cup in this situation is just impossible. Going with empty stadiums also brings huge loses to the cricket associations too. So, ICC is likely to push the T20 World Cup to 2022 if everything goes fine in the official meeting.
This makes Australia to host the T20 World Cup in 2022 and India to host the ODI i.e 50-Overs World Cup in 2023. This is because India is already hosting T20 World Cup in October 2021 thus going for 2 World Cups in a single year doesn't fetch enough curiosity.
Finally, this cleared the line for IPL 2020… As BCCI is thinking to conduct the 20-20 tournament in October-November months, this opens up the door for all the IPL fans. But nothing is yet confirmed as the Government needs to permit the tournament and if the Covid-19 still resides in the country then it is a nightmare to witness the cricket tournament.
Coming to the bilateral cricket, Indian and Australian cricketers will take part in a series if everything goes well. According to the sources, Indian cricketers will fly to Australia in August and thereafter England cricketers will step in India for the bilateral tournaments.
But this will only happen if the cricketers will agree to stay in a 14-day quarantine period as per Australian Government rules. On the whole, we need to wait and watch for the decision of the Sourav Ganguly as he is the head of BCCI.
