Raghu Engineering College Vizag enter National Finals
Raghu Engineering College Vizag tied with TKR College Hyderabad and in another match defeated SBRR College Mysore in the regional round to enter the National Finals of the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019.
Hyderabad: Raghu Engineering College Vizag tied with TKR College Hyderabad and in another match defeated SBRR College Mysore in the regional round to enter the National Finals of the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019.
TKR College Hyderabad beat SBRR College Mysore by 101 runs in the first game, however did not qualify as Raghu College Vizag had a better net run rate.
Raghu College Vizag and TKR College Hyderabad faceoff ended in a washout due to heavy rains and were rewarded 1 point to each. In another match, Raghu College Vizag beat SBRR College Mysore by 149 runs. Rahul from Raghu College Vizag won man of the match award for scoring 56 runs off 29 balls which included 5 fours and 2 sixes and also took 2 wickets.
The Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019 city qualifiers took place from February 3 to March 12 across 30 cities in India - Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Kochi, Mysore and Vizag in Sout.
After the city rounds and the city eliminators, Vizag, Hyderabad and Mysore city champions played two matches each on April 3 and 4 wherein Raghu Engineering College drew one and won another match and qualified for National Finals in Jaipur.
The other three city champions Chennai, Bangalore and Cochin also competed in Hyderabad for the other national finals spot. The top two teams from each zone will then compete in the National finals, where the teams will play in the knockout rounds of quarterfinals, semifinals and finals respectively. The National winner will then represent India in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Series Championship 2019.
Past winners from India to represent the country at the World Championships are Rizvi College, Mumbai; DAV College, Chandigarh; Swami Shraddhanand College, Delhi; and MMC College, Pune.
Raghu College Vizag won the toss and chose to bat first. Match Scorecard: Raghu College - 162/9 (20.Overs); TKR College Hyderabad - 42/2 (4.4 Overs) Match abandoned due to heavy rains. Umpires decide to give a point to each team.
