​Hyderabad: Rich tributes paid to the forest officials and staff who had laid down their lives while performing their duties in protecting forests and wildlife on the occasion of the Forest Martyr's Day.
At a meeting held on Tuesday, Minister for Environment and Forests Jogu Ramanna, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) P K Jha and other senior officials recalled the services of the forest staff and paid homage to the forest martyrs, laying wreaths at the memorial.
Marking the occasion, the State Forest Department (SFD) has established a Smrithi Vanam (memorial park) at Choutuppal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, which was inaugurated on Tuesday. District Collector Anita Ramachandran and PCCF and other senior officials, staff, their family members and people have planted saplings at the Smrithi Vanam, marking the occasion.
