Hyderabad: A letter sent by anonymous persons holding out threats to kill Virasam leader Varalakshmi, who is working as a lecturer in Rani Rudrama Devi Degree College, Proddatur, after she agreed to write a book on the slain Maoist leader Ganti Prasadam, is causing sensation in the town.

She had also condemned the recent killing of Prasad in Nellore, after attending a memorial meeting. The letter released in the name of CPI(Maoist) secretary of Chattisgarh Chiruta Area Committee warned that she would be able to write only if alive!. Varalakshmi wanted Prasad's writings to be handed over to her, which would help compile the book. She had on several occasions alleged that Prasad's killing was the handiwork of the police.
