Value, Values, Valuable, Valueless, Invaluable

What is a value in one country may not be a value in another: wearing a burkini (a head to heels beach suit worn by few women) in France is deemed as an affront to French values! What are your values? Your values define your goals.

The universal values, affirmed by the United Nations, are freedom, equality, tolerance, respect for nature, shared responsibility, to erase poverty; education, health care, clean water for all.

If you have qualities that are admirable you become valuable to all those around you: a role model.How can you become more valuable? Robin Sharma writes in ‘Who Will Cry When you Die’: “So to be paid more money in your work, you must add more value to the world. And the best way to begin adding value to the world is start becoming a more valuable person. Acquire skills no one else has. Read books no one else is reading. Think thoughts no one else is thinking.”

Value functions as a noun and verb, and has many meanings. Value means something or someone being important, worthwhile; worth of something especially measured in terms of money (what is the value of Euro against your national currency?), worth of something paid in money.

Value is a standard such a professional and personal standard of behaviour.In mathematics, value is a number represented by a letter; a value may refers to strongly related notions; value of the variable is an alphabetic character representing a number wherein the variable is not specified or unknown.

In music, value means full time indicated by a note.In language, value means the meaning, the effect of a word: poetic value, political value, social value…The plural of value is values: your values in life could be to look after your parents, to pay your taxes, to be kind and helpful to others, striving for a better world.

The derivatives of the verb are values, valued, valuing: you value others.VAT! We all end up paying more for a service or good because we pay value-added tax! Value judgment is not a valuable trait in a person because the judgement is based on personal or subjective assessment rather than objective assessment. Valueless means no value. Valueless, adjective, is the opposite of valuable.
Invaluable means of great value, invaluable things are those that cannot be appraised.

Invaluable is an adjective meaning that something is beyond measurement, extremely valuable.You may get invaluable help from your parents; you may strive to be of invaluable service to your parents, and those around you: you increase your value on earth!
