Hanamkonda: Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) is gearing up to auction open plots as well as to acquire lands for development under land pooling scheme on the outskirts of Warangal.

The KUDA, which owns an extent of 200 acres at Madipalle village in Hasanparthy mandal, is planning to develop and sell plots in phased manner. As part of such approach, it was decided to auction plots developed on 50 acres of land in the first phase.

Arrangements for the auctioning of plots underway and the auction will take place in June. Infrastructure like laying roads, construction of drainage and electric lines is being developed and the works neared completion, KUDA Chairman Marri Yadava Reddy informed The Hans India here on Thursday.

He further informed that efforts are being made in developing 10 acres land the authority owns at Hunter Road in Hanamkonda in Public-private partnership (PPP) model. It is planned to establish a convention hall and a hotel on the land.

Following the suggestion made by Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao, during a recent meeting here, plans are afoot to acquire lands from owners under land pooling policy for developing townships around the proposed outer ring road (ORR).

The KUDA is contemplating to create a land pool of around 500 acres in the first phase to development townships. In this scheme, the landowners will get back a portion of the land that they transferred to the KUDA for development according to a pre-set scale, he explained.

The ratio at which the land has to be transferred to the owners is being discussed, Yadava Reddy said.
Recently a meeting with revenue officials has been conducted to finalise the modalities. Soon a Land Pooling Committee will be constituted with the district collectors and revenue officials of Warangal Urban and Rural districts for the purpose of acquiring the lands, he added.

Works related to development of 20 acres in O’City were underway. Of the 20 acres, 10 acres land is a commercial bit adjacent to Warangal-Narsampet road and the remaining is inside the O’City. It is hoped that the commercial plots may attract a price of about Rs 1 lakh per square yard, Yadava Reddy noted.

However, the sources revealed that the KUDA is facing difficulty in executing infrastructure development works as some leaders of the ruling party creating hurdles in the works execution. The henchmen of those leaders have recently removed boundary stones fixed at the site.
