Tandur: Realtors here are violating rules with impunity and going on constructing buildings illegally. The officials of the Municipal and Revenue departments have deliberately remained indifferent to the unauthorised constructions. They allegedly received huge amount of bribes from the realtors to remain silent.

There is an agricultural land at survey no 133 in Malreddypalli village of Tandur municipal limits. Some realtors purchased this land and started construction of buildings without obtaining proper permissions from the municipality. If someone has to build the house on the agricultural land, the land needs to be converted from agricultural land to non-agricultural land. It needs a special permission from the District Collector and Joint Collector. Later, he has to take layout permissions from the municipality and pay the requisite taxes to get an NOC. Even officials of the Electricity department also set-up meters without taking proper permissions.

The local people here have alleged that realtors gave bribes to the officials concerned and got the permissions illegally. As a result, the government was incurring financial losses as they were not paying taxes, they lamented. They urged the government to take all the necessary measures to stop the illegal constructions in the town at the earliest.

When contacted, Municipal Town Planning Officer Irshad said that he didn’t take notice of works that were going on there. He said that those constructions have no proper permissions. He refuted the allegation that officials took bribes for giving permissions. He said that they would stop the illegal constructions at Malreddypalli and also filed a case in this regard.
