Medak: Alleged lack of coordination among the district officials has resulted in causing inconvenience to the differently abled persons at the Sadaram camp here on Sunday. Normally such camp is conducted once a month for the benefit of the disabled persons, but it has not been held in the last eight months.
Consequently, on Sunday at the Sadaram camp, about 10,000 disabled landed at the camp which caught the officials unawares and unprepared. The differently abled persons were forced to wait in queue from 6 am in the government hospital here, where the camp was being conducted for securing the certificates. The presence of such a large number of disabled and improper planning resulted in a mild stampede. Luckily, no one was injured, and an announcement was made that the camp has been shifted to the district collectorate.
As a result, the disabled were forced to travel four km. Even they had to suffer as there was no facility of drinking water and shade from the hot sun. Yet the Collectorate was crammed with disabled, who had to face severe hardships because of lack of coordination among the officials, who failed to anticipate the presence of such a large number of disabled. They expressed distress over the lack of facilities. The DRDO told The Hans India that one or two Sadaram camps would be organised this month. Steps would be taken to ensure that the disabled don’t face any problems.
