Sangareddy: The district administration has launched steps to set up Zilla and Mandal Parishads. The officials identified as many as 711 MPTC posts in Sangareddy, Siddipet and Medak and they will submit the list to higher officials.
The list will be available to people after higher officials give a go ahead after vetting it.
According to 2011 census, there are 293 posts in Sangareddy, 229 in Siddipet and 189 in Medak. ZP officials said that there will be minor changes after objections.
A few villages merged into municipalities and others in mandals after the government created new mandals and districts. The officials finalised the list of MPTC posts, according to 2011 census. There will be an MPTC for each 3,500 population. The list is being displayed in Collectorate, RDO and MPDO offices from Thursday.
The officials will receive objections till Friday. The final list will be displayed on February 25 with or without amendments. The term of ZPs and MPPs will end by July.
There were 46 mandals in erstwhile Medak after districts reorganisation, Sangareddy has 26 mandals, 22 in Siddipet and 20 in Medak.
As many as seven mandals were created in Sangareddy, five each in Siddipet and Medak along with old mandals.
Offices of Mandal Parishad will set up in newly formed mandals once the officials review the data.
Though there are 26 mandals in Sangareddy, there will be 25 ZPTC posts as villages under Ramachandrapuram area have been merged in GHMC.
Officials submitted proposals for 229 MPTC posts in Siddipet district, of which a total of 14 posts, each in Kondapaka and Chinna Kodur mandals while 13 in Koheda, Siddipet rural and Dubbaka mandals.
Of 189 posts in Medak, highest number of seats 15 allocated for Papannapet mandal while Toophran and Narsing mandals allotted five posts each.
Earlier, there were 685 posts of MPTC in 46 mandals of erstwhile Medak, now the number increased to 711 in 67 mandals of three districts. As many as seven mandals of Karimnagar and Warangal were merged in Medak during district reogranisation.
Officials explained that the reasons behind decreasing MPTC posts are a few villages were merged in Municipalities and a few were upgraded as Municipalities.
A total of 293 posts identified for Sangareddy, of which Narayankhed mandal leads the list with 17 posts while Ameenpur mandal was last in the list with two posts. The officials proposed for two posts as it has population 8,987.
There is a possibility for one more seat as ZP officials have written a letter in this regard. There are no clear rules as how many members are needed to elect MPP, the officials are saying that they will receive directives from higher officials in this regard.
