Hyderabad: A 25-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan in her house at HMT Hills under KPHB police station limits. The victim was identified as M Dhanalaxmi.
According to police, they have received a complaint from M Shankar Rao (53), native of West Godavari, that his second daughter (victim) was solemnized with D Krishna Rao, who is working as a Record Assistant at Deputy Inspector of Schools at Panjagutta on April 4, 2018. He said in his complaint that at the time of marriage he gave Rs 10 lakh cash, one acre land, 40 tolas gold ornaments and other house hold appliances as dowry to him.
The complainant alleged that the accused used to come home in drunken condition and harassed his daughter both physically and mentally. He said his daughter narrated the grief to him and went to their house and stayed for three months.
In January,2019 during Sankranti festival, one of the relative of his son-in-law settled the matter and promised to look after her daughter. But the accused did not change his attitude and increased cruelty for additional dowry.
Due to unbearable harassment by the accused, D Naga Sathya Prasad and his brother of Krishna Rao, his daughter sent a text message to him on Saturday and committed suicide by hanging to ceiling fan with a saree. Police by registering a case are investigating.
