Kapra: All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) national committee member T Jyothi demanded the strict implementation of five per cent quota to the disabled in education sector from the ensuing academic year. Addressing the inauguration of two-day state level workshop organised by National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) at Kamala Nagar, she alleged that the vote on account budget introduced by the Centre neglected the welfare of the disabled.

She questioned the parliament members for not spending Rs 10 lakh every year for their welfare. Injustice was being meted out to the disabled in the high education with non-implementation of five percent quota in educational institutions. NPRD state president Gorenkala Narasimha demanded monthly unemployment stipend of Rs 5,000 to the disabled.

The other demands include four percent quota in contract and outsourcing appointments, financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to jobless with 80 percent subsidy without surety and allotment of 2BHK houses to the disabled. NPRD state secretary M Adivaiah, treasurer R Venkatesh, central committee member Ch Sayamma, office bearers Nagalakshmi, Venkat, Kavitha, Ganesh, Yusuf, Raju, Potti Gangadhar, Yashoda, Ali, leaders Ranga Reddy, Chandramohan, Prakash, Chandu, Vijay and Areefa were present.
