Malkajgiri: In a humanitarian gesture, personnel of the local police station contributed Rs.50,000 for the kidney operation of Maheshwari (40), wife of home guard M Yadayya, who works in the Malkajgiri police station. The contribution by the police station staff has been made after Maheshwari’s both kidneys got damaged.

She has been undergoing treatment. But Yadayya was finding it difficult to raise money for the surgery, even after selling his house. His father-in-law had donated his kidney for Maheshwari, following which the surgery was performed on January 29, for which the home guard spent Rs.10 lakh. Her weekly expenditure in medicines comes to about Rs 10,000.

Realising Yadayya’s plight, the Malkajgiri police personnel took the issue to the notice of Inspector Manmohan. Following this, the police station staff, including CIs and SIs, pooled money and handed over to Yadayya Rs 50,000. The home guard thanked the police personnel for their kind gesture.
