Necklace Road: National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) launched the 3-day National Fish Festival at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, on Friday. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin inaugurated the 2nd Fish Festival in Hyderabad. The first Fish Festival was held in 2010.Rani Kumudini, Chief Executive, NFDB, Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr C Suvarna, Telangana Government Fisheries Commissioner also visited the festival.
G Rathinaraj, Executive Director (Tech), NFDB, said that this fest was being organised to create awareness among the people on the health benefits of fish. A Dhana Lakshmi, Executive Director (F&A), NFDB, said that fish is full of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins D and B2 (riboflavin), so people should consume fish. She also said that visitors should come and visit this festival as they get to taste various delicious fish dishes.
The festival features around 20 stalls which offer a variety of fish and seafood related cuisine, fish aquariums stall and stall of fish products. The stalls have various lip-smacking dishes of fish like fish fry, fish pakora, prawn fry, fish cutlet and many more.The visitors also have an opportunity to learn different techniques of cooking fish dishes at the fish festival.
Krishna Veni, a visitor, said, “She loves to eat fish and have tasted the food at the stalls, they are very tasty and also healthy”.“Sumita, a visitor, said that all should consume fish at least once a week, as fish is healthier containing vitamin D and Omega-3 fatty acids.” “If you are a fish lover and want to try some mouthwatering fish dishes you should definitely visit this National Fish Festival” said Smiti Rekha Pati, Executive Assistant (Tech), NFDB.
