Hi-Tec City: IKEA, the Swedish home furnishing company, on Thursday unveiled a textile collection named Änglatarar. It is a textile collection which is made in India and celebrates Indo-Swedish design synergies and it marks the celebration of design aesthetics from both countries as a tribute to India.Änglatarar is designed by two young designers from India and Sweden and is developed in Panipat, Haryana.

With its diverse materials and textures, bold patterns, striking colors, and optimistic spirit, Änglatarar will look beautiful in any home. The inception of this collection came out when IKEA put two in-house designers – Akanksha Doe and Pauline Machado – together to bring in elements of India and Sweden together and make a fusion from the culture of both the textile-loving countries.Designers have used traditional signs, letters, and alphabets which spark a dialogue enabling a deeper understanding of both countries culture.

Speaking about the collection,
Mia Olsson, Country Communication & Interior Manager, IKEA India, said, “We needed some touch of the Indian culture to combine with Sweden and make a fusion of both the cultures, so we put designers from India and Sweden and told them to mix both the cultures. Both the IKEA designers are young and talented and we told them to be as creative as they can be and they have done a commendable job.”

John Achillea, Hyderabad Store Manager, IKEA India said, Änglatarar is a tribute to India as we have been sourcing textiles from India for over thirty years and to celebrate our unique and vibrant relationship we launched a completely ‘made in India’ collection for our customers, it will be available at the IKEA Hyderabad store starting February 1 and it will be seen across products such as bed linens, curtains, and cushion covers.”
