Musheerabad: Mohammad Shahid, who owns a cool drinks shop located at Musheerabad, knows the value of education, especially given that he is an illiterate. For the past five years, he has been distributing biscuits and cool drinks to 10th standard students of Government High School, Musheerabad, for free. In order to help Class 10 students score high marks, teachers take special classes for students from 4 pm to 6 pm every day.
To provide succour to the students and help them better focus on studies, Shahid, who has a small cooldrink shop near EkMinar, Musheerabad, has been offering them biscuits daily for 40 days every year before public exams. As students spend most of their day, from 7 am to 8 pm, at school before the public exams, the snacks, particularly his kind gesture, keep them light-hearted and relieve them of their stress. When asked about the reason, “I want others to study and secure a bright future,” said Shahid.
In praise of his efforts to help students, Shahid was felicitated at a special program at school on Tuesday by Muta Gopal, MLA, Musheerabad. TRS leaders Prabhakar, teachers of the school, school junior assistant Ratan and others attended the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Narender Yadav, head master of the school, praised Shahid for his charity and also talked about his contribution for the better results.
Kavya, a Class X student, said that the biscuits given by him in the evening hours were of great help to them. Another student Shiv Kumar spoke about the energy the biscuits provide as they come early in the morning and stay late in the evening during their exam preparations.
