Koti: University College for Women (UCW), Koti, in association with Jeevandan Cadaver Transplantation Programme, Govt of Telangana, organised an organ donation awareness walk here on Wednesday.

Dr Swarnalatha, in-charge of Jeevandan, addressed the gathering, emphasizing on the importance of organ donation. “To donate organs, one should first protect your organs by having a healthy balanced diet, adequate water intake, and regular exercise.”

“Life is very precious. We can give life to others even when we lose ours through organ donation. Donating organs is like recycling our own body. Organ donation from a brain-dead person gives new lives to many patients,” said Dr Swarnalatha.

The Principal of UCW, Dr A Roja Rani, along with Vice-Principal Dr Swarnalatha, flagged off the walk at college premises. Around 300 students, along with the faculty and governing body of the college walked around the periphery of the college, chanting slogans like “Be a hero, be an organ donor’, ‘Donate eyes, live twice’ and ‘Live life, give life’.

All the students who took part in the walk would be given a certificate from UCW and Mohan Foundation informed the college administration.
